Laboratory Technician (Rockland)

Laboratory Assistant Float Position at Dynacare. Status: 12 month contract, full time Vacancy Type: Existing Shift: Day Shift, Monday to Friday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm and half day on Saturdays Work Style: On Site Location: Ottawa, Winchester, Rockland, Kemptville, Bank Street and Hawkesbury Internal Posting Deadline: May 24, 2026 Certification: MLPAO/CSMLS Certification strongly recommended. Responsibilities Obtain quality blood samples and other specimens from patients, ensuring compliance with Dynacare’s mission and values. Perform ECGs, Holter hookups, paternity, urine, drug, and breath alcohol collections, sorting and steering specimens as required. Ensure specimens and supporting documentation are completed per SOPs and ready for data entry and transportation to the laboratory. Enter accurate patient, data, and test information for Ministry of Health requisitions. Maintain confidentiality of all patient information and meet departmental/corporate quality metrics, regulatory compliance, and quality indicators. Qualifications Completed secondary school and a Laboratory Assistant training program or Medical Lab Assistance course with specialized training in phlebotomy. Customer‑focused with genuine care for patients’ health. Skill in phlebotomy, able to manage anxious patients with calm and reassuring manner. Prioritize and self‑manage in a deadline‑oriented environment. Highly detail oriented. Proficient in English written and verbal, able to communicate instructions clearly and understandably to patients. Working Conditions Medical laboratory environment. May be required to lift a maximum of 30 pounds. Repetitive movements with frequent computer use. Frequent standing, sitting, bending, etc. Pay rate: $21.00–$24.75 per hour (subject to experience and education).
