Part-Time Instructors - Nursing

Job Description The Compton Community College District is hiring part‑time faculty for the 2018–2019 academic year to teach courses in Nursing. Conditions of Employment Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of information provided on the application, credentials, transcripts, fingerprint results, and tuberculosis examination. Successful candidates must provide proof of work authorization and a valid social‑security card. Salary Starting hourly rate ranges from $42.66 to $68.83, depending on education and experience. Required Qualifications Master's degree in Nursing. Direct patient care experience within the last five years in the nursing area assigned, which can be met by: One year’s continuous full‑time RN clinical care in the designated area, or One academic year of RN level clinical teaching experience in the area that demonstrates clinical competency. Valid California Registered Nurse license or eligibility for licensure. Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of college students. Desired Qualifications Recent community college teaching experience. Experience in reading, developmental, and transfer‑level composition. Ability to address the needs of students from developmental through transfer levels, especially those who are under‑prepared. Experience developing and using innovative teaching strategies, current methodology in reading and composition, and learning technologies. Experience teaching online. Commitment to Basic Skills instruction. Effective oral and written communication skills.
