RECEPTIONIST/SWITCHBOARD OPERATOR

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Receptionist/Switchboard Operator assures hospitality for all patients, visitors and guests of CRMC. Assist patients/visitors with wayfinding and acquiring transportation for those needing wheelchair or escort. The associate will be a source of information for patient/visitor and donors. Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. The associate will process requests for patient medical records and act as a general liaison for the Health Information Management Team.


JOB DUTIES:

• Greet patients and visitors to the hospital assuring a positive experience


• Route calls to the appropriate persons or departments

• Directs patients and visitors to their necessary destination within the CRMC campus

• Answers questions and provides information for patients, and visitors as needed

• Act as a liaison to the Health Information team to ensure that patients can request and receive medical records

• Educate patients on enrollment and patient portal access

• Properly screen incoming calls to assure proper information and/or call routing is provided

• Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations

The Receptionist/Switchboard Operator assumes other responsibilities as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff and the public

• Professional appearance and ease in developing rapport with others

• Be detail oriented with proven ability to multitask

• Computer skills including MSOffice, Outlook, Meditech, preferred

• Mature empathy with ability to effectively solve problems while providing excellent customer relations and hospitality

• Ability to move, position self, consistently operate various types of equipment, able to detect/observe/identify details at close or distant range with or without accommodations, as well as exert up to 20 pounds occasionally, and/or 10 pounds of force frequently, or negligible constantly. Walking or standing to a significant degree, or sitting constantly and pushing/pulling controls


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• H.S. Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent work experience in field, required

• 3-5 years’ customer relations experience, required
