The PE has direct responsibility for project financials, planning and scheduling, for supervision of personnel and for completion of tasks required to fulfill the project's goals. This position requires an extraordinary level of attention to detail as well as the proficient use of project management tools and software. A project engineer works with stakeholders at all levels and will be required to negotiate with owners, suppliers and trade partners in resolving disputes and managing changes.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist the project manager and superintendents as follows: Accumulate all necessary data and prepare the monthly owner pay applicationsDiscover and resolve interface conflicts between the company and trade partners, as well as among trade partnersAssist the company's field supervisors on interpretation of drawings, specifications, RFIs and questions for and from the architect/engineerDevelop/manage the cost control and labor recap in conjunction with the project manager and project superintendentProcess and estimate all potential change orders and requests for informationAssist in development and management of the project scheduleAssist with engineering details and special designTrack and report on the progress of the projectAssist with production analysis studiesManage the timely acquisition of materials and equipment and field-initiated purchasingRun weekly owner/architect/contractor meetings and maintain meeting minutesAssist in monthly margin analysisUpdate and maintain the project record utilizing the Book of 14Participate in jobsite safety meetings, weekly safety audits, etcFacilitate the quality control plan and participate in preparatory meetings, initial inspections, follow-up inspections, etcAssist in interpretation of the BIM and VDC specificationsManage, train and mentor the office engineers and the jobsite administrator.#LI-PP1QualificationsA 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, or construction managementMinimum of 2-4 years’ experience on large commercial construction projects Valid Driver’s LicenseStrong communication skillsComputer software - Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel based templates, Prolog, Primavera and AutoDesk Suite Preferred Qualifications: Past internships in the construction industry.Physical RequirementsModerate Work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.The individual in this position will periodically walk, kneel, sit, crouch, reach, stoop, read/see, speak, push, pull, lift, stand, and finger/type. The frequency of each action varies by workflow and office activity.Walking - The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, boxes, cabinets, etc.Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, phone, computer, and computer printer.The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and external stakeholders regarding a variety of topics related to office administration.Constantly computes, analyzes, and conceptualizes mathematical calculations and formulas.The person in this position regularly sits in a stationary position in front of a computer screen.Constantly reads written communications and views mail submissions. Will also need to read blueprints and take/verify field measurements.Climbing – Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding and ramps at various heights.Balancing – Ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling and to walk, stand or crouch.Stooping – Bending the body downward and forward by the spine at the waist.Visual acuity and ability to operate a vehicle as certified and appropriate.Occasionally exposed to high and low temperaturesFrequently exposed to noisy environments and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.EducationA 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, or construction management.BenefitsHensel Phelps provides generous benefits for our salaried employees.
