Aircraft Certification Engineer - Aerodynamics

Salary: $72,000 - 100,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• We are seeking someone with 15+ years of aircraft certification experience focused on aerodynamics, including direct exposure to FAA type certification or supplemental type certificate (STC) programs.
• Prior work on military commercial derivative aircraft programs is preferred.
• You must be able to pass at least a Tier 1 investigation for Department of Defense contract work; an existing security clearance is preferred.
• FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) authorization in one or more disciplines is required.
• You need a strong working knowledge of 14 CFR, especially Part 25, including FAA regulatory processes and the STC pathway.
• Experience in program management, effective stakeholder communication, and coordination of certification efforts for alterations and modifications is required.
• You should have experience preparing certification documentation such as Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, ground and flight test plans, compliance checklists, and project-specific certification plans.

• We provide SME-level expertise in aerodynamic model development and in defining stability and control characteristics.
• We act as the technical subject matter expert for aircraft certification, ensuring alignment with FAA regulations and MIL-HDBK-516C airworthiness requirements.
• We develop, review, and carry out certification plans for MCDA programs.
• We coordinate approval activities with military airworthiness authorities and DER/DAR representatives.
• We identify and close certification gaps that arise from the interaction of civil and military airworthiness standards.
• We mentor junior engineers and help improve our internal certification processes, tools, and best practices.

Aviation Technology Associates (AVTECH) and AVTECH Global are seeking an Aircraft Certification Engineer - Aerodynamics to support the airworthiness certification of a military commercial derivative aircraft. We are looking for an experienced professional to help bridge FAA Title 14 CFR Part 25 requirements with MIL-HDBK-516C military airworthiness standards while working closely with government and prime contractor stakeholders. This is a remote role with no relocation required, although travel to Dayton, OH is needed at least once per month for 3 to 4 days at a time; we cover travel expenses including flights, hotel, rental car, and per diem.
