Job Title: Laboratory Technician I Shift Hours: Weds‑Sun 7:00 AM–3:30 PM and Weds‑Sun 12:00 PM–8:30 PM. (Training will occur Mon‑Fri for a couple of weeks.) Compensation: $17.50 per hour plus shift differential. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs routine lab tasks that provide experience with methods, practices, and programs, including preparation of samples, performing chemical analysis, calculating data, recording and reporting data, and performing routine instrument maintenance. Responsible for performing job functions in compliance with EHS and QA standards. Responsible for general housekeeping in work area. Ability to become trained and competent on complex instrumentation such as gas chromatography, GC/MS, atomic absorption, ICP, and instrument‑specific data systems. Secondary Duties Works under close supervision using routine and standard methods. Aliquots and weighs samples. Washes glassware. Qualifications Requirements High school with Chemistry coursework and basic laboratory experience. Laboratory experience helpful; previous production‑oriented work helpful (awareness and ability to meet deadlines). Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship. Successful completion of a pre‑employment background check and drug screen. Professional working proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking). Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge Analytical and general science methods and method compliance. Follow and learn appropriate protocols in one or more of the following disciplines: Metals preparation and analysis Wet Chemistry Physical Requirements Lifting and Carrying: Lifting up to 50 pounds and carrying up to 30 pounds when moving samples and disposing of waste. Pushing and Pulling: Pushing and pulling up to 200 pounds when moving sample carts and gas tanks. Body Positions: Approximately 60% of time standing when analyzing samples, 10% walking, and 30% sitting at computer or paperwork. Must be able to sit, stand, or stoop for long periods. Body Movements: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching when getting samples and performing analyses. Smelling: Detecting unusual odors, leakage, contamination. Hand Use: Handling samples, operating instruments, data entry. Hearing: Conversational hearing ability. Vision: Performing analyses, viewing computer screen, doing paperwork.
