Staff Physician/Interventional Cardiologist

Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval - award amount (up to $200-000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed physicians in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine obtained from a VA‑approved school in the year the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Residency training: Physicians must have completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. PRPs (Physician Resident Providers) must be fully licensed physicians and may be appointed on an intermittent or fee‑basis. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Preferred Experience: Interventional Cardiologist with training/experience in complex coronary interventions and chronic total occlusions; mechanical support preferred. Duties As a Staff Physician – Interventional Cardiologist assigned to the VA St. Louis MO Health Care System, you will provide comprehensive, efficient, compassionate, high‑quality healthcare to all patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Responsibilities include: Treat a range of heart and vascular conditions through cardiac catheterization. Perform procedures such as balloon angioplasty, stent insertion, heart valve repair, and pacemaker and defibrillator insertion. Provide medical evaluation and direct the overall management of patients in collaboration with other members of the health care team. Supervise and educate Internal Medicine Residents and medical students from the University of Nevada – School of Medicine. Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Benefits and compensation include: Competitive salary with annual performance bonus and regular salary increases.
