Paid Student Intern - Fall 2026/Spring 2027

Position Overview The hourly rate for this position is $20.00. This position requires a 4‑month commitment with an opportunity to extend if eligible. Some divisions may prefer a longer commitment. The position is limited to a maximum of 35 hours per week, not to exceed 944 hours in a fiscal year. Interns would be required to work a minimum of 10 hours per week if selected for Probation or Criminal Pre‑Trial Services. Interns are not eligible for remote work. Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position. Responsibilities Assist with answering phones, returning phone calls, and receiving and distributing voicemails Contact and follow up with applicants and/or members of the public Perform special projects Conduct research and analysis Perform computer related work Collect and enter data Provide customer service Draft correspondences and memos Attend community planning meetings Organize and scan paper files; upload into an electronic filing system Assist staff and perform other duties as directed Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position. Qualifications Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university pursuing a degree. Applicant must have thirty credit hours from an accredited college pursuing a degree or certificate in the Behavioral or Social Sciences or a related field. Unofficial college transcript must be included in your application. Physical ability: must be able to frequently lift and carry supplies weighing from 30 to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds, as well as climb, stand, stretch, bend, and reach. Driver's license valid in New Jersey if operation of a vehicle is needed for essential duties. Authorization to work: must be authorized to work in the U.S. under Department of Homeland Security regulations. US citizenship is not required. Will undergo a thorough background check that includes fingerprinting. Information will be kept confidential. Residency law: must establish and maintain a principal residence in New Jersey within one year of hire. Exemptions may be requested under hardship or employer critical need.
