Position: Take Charge Associate

FLSA status: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Hours: Part time, 2 days per week a total of 16 hours per week

Department/Location: Shelter/ East Hampton

PURPOSE:

The Take Charge Associate assists the Coordinator with personalized initial Intakes for residential (Shelter) and non-residential (Outreach) clients and provides targeted resources following those meetings, including:

• providing TC Budgeting Worksheets to clients post-intake
• providing Banking applications and direct contacts, along with Letters of Residency and related documents, post-intake
• helping clients create Credit Karma accounts and providing other information on credit repair, post-intake
• helping clients email and/or print their credit reports for further review with the Coordinator
• helping clients write letters of dispute or debt settlement letters using TC models
• providing clients with Job Search and Resume Building tools using TC materials
• providing numerous electronic source materials, such as the Allstate Curriculum for financial education
• helping clients navigate Job Sites when necessary
• supporting clients in drafting and updating their resumes following the Coordinator's review
• introducing clients to local staffing agency as appropriate
• connecting clients with Retreat sources/partners, such as Bright Horizons, ESBOCES, the Women's International Scholarship Program (WISP), and more,

The Associate will also:

• Attend weekly Team Meetings
• Support Coordinator 1-2 times per year in developing groups of old and new Workshop presenters, including contacting recommended presenters; updating the Excel or Word report of past presenters with contact information and topics; contacting and scheduling those presenters for future workshops; creating engaging separate announcement posters for Shelter and also Outreach clients; reminding Outreach clients of dates, etc.; informing Team and other Retreat staff of workshop schedules
• Create and administer Post-Workshop Surveys (based on KSAB--Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes, and Behaviors) and provide a report of Survey results
• Generate Internal Referrals for Shelter and/or Outreach clients
• Update the database of all TC Outreach clients
• Introduce Outreach referrals to Take Charge via email, including the program brochure and a suggested date and time for an Intake with the Coordinator, following up as necessary and updating Google calendar
• Provide links and emails to Outreach clients with some or all of the resources above
• Create print files for new clients, with key documents and/or copy of initial Internal Referral
• Enter AVS notes on a daily basis
• Create and maintain a combined Client Status Report (Shelter and Outreach)
• Assist the Coordinator in developing new and additional resources, community partners, and expert advisers for all topics addressed in the Program

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

• Reports to: Shelter Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School or GED preferred.
• Bilingual proficiency (Spanish/English) preferred.
• Ability to work with individuals in crisis.
• Must possess a high level of competency in organizational skills, interpersonal communication, and relationship building.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Drive.
• Ability to work as a supportive team member, coordinating feedback and knowledge.
• Fingerprint clearance and valid NYS Driver's License required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Sits, stands, stoops, squats, walks, and moves intermittently during work hours
• May lift, push, or pull 10-20 pounds occasionally.
