Shift: 7 on/7off (Wed-Tues) overnight shift, rotating every other weekend including holidays Exempt: NoSummary: Performs Ultrasound procedures in accordance with established professional and departmental standards and procedures. Other information:
IX. Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill set, and/or ability required.
a. High School diploma or equivalent education.
b. Completion of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program.
c. Credentialed in Vascular Testing from one of the accepted registries below OR will accept ARDMS, CCI, or ARRT eligible with one year sonography experience to include clinical rotation in a hospital or imaging center setting with vascular credentialing obtained from within 1 year of hire date.
a. Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT); American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography(ARDMS)
b. Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS); Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
c. Registered Technologist Vascular Sonography [RT(VS)]; American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
d. Completed BCLS certification.
X. Working Conditions:
• Demonstrates the ability to provide competent patient care to the following patient populations: Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric.
• Maintaining proper body mechanics when performing bedside and portable exams which includes positioning/lifting patients, and the push/pull of the stretcher/bed/ultrasound unit. Ability to respond to and withstand frequent crisis situations.
• Works the assigned schedule and will work overtime if needed as schedule allows.
• Utilize proper infection control practices per department policy.
• Ensures accurate recording and transmission of patient information.
• Complies with department procedure regarding employee and patient incident reports.
• Meet requirement for all mandatory in-services (CBLs), continuing education, and maintains knowledge of current/new technology.

Demonstrates a complete working knowledge of all Ultrasound equipment used for diagnostic radiology and intra-procedural imaging. c. Demonstrates proficient and economic use of supplies, communication equipment, technical equipment, and computer technologies. d. Performs visual inspection of equipment, identifies problems and communicates to immediate supervisor. e. Reviews physician orders, checking for special instructions from requesting physician, and consults with the radiologist as necessary. f. Pleasantly greets patients, confirming their identification and introductions.
g. Completely explains examination procedure to the patient and their family if present. h. Ability to anticipate and meet the needs and expectations of customers.
i. Contact the Ultrasound Supervisor/Manager for equipment service issues as appropriate. j. Participates in appropriate education and on-the-job learning situations in order to develop necessary job skills. k. Demonstrates the ability to perform multiple tasks as required. l. Policies & Procedures: Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with established organizational and departmental policies and procedures. a. Adheres to hospital policy on: attendance and tardiness, hospital dress code, infection control standards, environmental standards, quality improvement activities. b. Maintains and promotes confidentiality per hospital policy c. Completes annual hospital mandatory educational requirements. d. Performs visual preventive safety inspections. Identifies problems and communicates to immediate supervisor. VI. Departmental Workflow: Consistently maintains departmental workflow of the departments within Diagnostic Services ensuring maximized productivity and efficiency. a. Functions productively, responsibly and exhibits adaptability with the team. Positively demonstrates VALUES of North Oaks Health System. Plans and prioritizes work while maintaining positive performance. b. Demonstrates a complete working knowledge of all equipment within the department. c. Performs all Ultrasound procedures. Demonstrates anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning and technical factors according to the department policy and procedure manual. Obtains patient history and clinical data for correlation with the scans. d. Maintains necessary inventory of supplies for assigned room, rotating stock in an orderly fashion, and eliminating outdated items. e. Ensures all equipment is in good working condition. f. Assist physician in such procedures as needle biopsies, amniocentesis, renal biopsies, etc.... Scan patient, mark entrance site on patient's body, determine angle for puncture, and assist as necessary while maintaining sterile technique.
g. Ensure work area cleanliness. VII. Customer Relations: Consistently maintains an attitude of cooperation, clear communication, mutual respect, and courtesy to all patients, visitors, team members, medical staff, volunteers and students. a. Communicates pertinent information to all employees and customers in a timely fashion. b. Demonstrates respectful interpersonal relations when dealing with others. c. Reviews physician orders, checking for special instructions from requesting physician, and consults with the radiologist as necessary. Performs all other duties as required or requested by the Manager or Director. c. Participates in projects and assists in the development and implementation of procedures and policies. d. Organizational and Departmental Regulator Compliance (OSHA, JCAHO, HCFA, OIG, etc.) e. Remains Up to date on all Policies, Procedures and Competencies.
