The City of Norfolk's Department of Human Services (NDHS) provides a wide range of essential services to its citizens. These services are crucial in supporting the wellbeing of the community and ensuring that all citizens have access to the resources they need. NDHS is committed to providing such comprehensive support to its citizens. The NDHS is seeking a Cook for its Juvenile Detention Center (JDC). The JDC is a secure facility which houses juveniles who are ordered to be detained pursuant to the Code of Virginia. The Cook orders and prepares meals for facility. Organizes kitchen and maintains cleanliness. Department Hiring Range: $19.60 - $22.49 Essential Functions Prepares meals by ordering food for meals, retrieving all needed ingredients, and following standard recipes. Sanitizes kitchen supplies by washing the dishes, pots and pans, and various kitchen equipment. Education/Experience Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions, simple processes and routine operation of machines. Level of knowledge equivalent to less than high school or equivalency. One year experience in quality/quantity cooking. Additional Information & Requirements Valid Driver's License not required. Health Card, Food Services Manager Certification within six months of employment.
