Software Manager (Top Secret)

Position & Responsibilities The Space Security Division within Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to drive the execution of multiple projects as an agile leader. This role will report into the Engineering & Technology organization of Space and manage a team of ~25 Software Engineers, including one Associate Software Engineering Manager, while also filling a technical or programmatic role. Functional management responsibilities (~25% of chargeable hours) include subordinate employee recruitment, training, performance assessments, work assignments, career development, salary and recognition, disciplinary actions, etc. Technical or programmatic responsibilities (~75% of chargeable hours) may include Project Engineering, Release Train Engineer (RTE), Subject Matter Expert (SME), or other programmatic leadership roles, depending on the selected candidate’s demonstrated expertise and experience. Basic Qualifications Current or prior functional management experience Proven leadership experience and the ability to inspire and motivate others Demonstrated software engineering experience Agile development experience and understanding Full Spectrum Leadership behavior, attitude, and perspective Strong written and verbal communication skills Active Top Secret security clearance to start and maintain level of SCI clearance throughout the course of employment Ability to obtain additional program accesses Desired Skills Customer‑mission obsessed Strategic thinker able to relate technology solutions to customer use cases Good balance of IQ & EQ to solve both technical and social challenges Previous experience on an Echo program and currently held clearance for an Echo program Familiarity with LM program lifecycles, processes, and procedures Experience performing in an Agile role; product owner, scrum master, or Release Train Engineer Demonstrated change agent – e.g., implementation of new processes, systems, etc. Proposal and BOE experience Security Clearance This position requires a government security clearance and the applicant must be a US citizen. Active Top Secret clearance is required to start, and the candidate must maintain TS/SCI clearance throughout employment. The ability to obtain additional program accesses is also required.
