Job Description:\n\nPOSITION SUMMARY\nThis position is an adjunct, part-time assignment, created to meet the instructional needs of the department. Qualified applicants may be invited to teach in one or more of the following subject areas:  \n\n Print Reading \n\n Construction Scheduling \n\n Construction Estimating \n\n Construction Materials, Systems, and Technologies \n\n Building Electrical and Mechanical Systems (MEP) \n\n Construction Project Management \n\n Building Code, Residential and Commercial \n\n Soil Mechanics for Construction \n\n Surveying for Construction \n\n Construction Contracts and Legal Environment \n\n \nClass assignments may include teaching day and/or evening classes in different modalities (face-to-face, online or hybrid). The college centers diversity, equity, and inclusion and we actively seek to employee partners who want to join us in working to reducing outcome gaps among our diverse student population.\n \nDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:\n \n\n Provide classroom in-person or remote instruction based on course assignment \n\n Identified course competencies with assistance from the Department Chair. \n\n Evaluate student performance in accordance with student learning outcomes as stated in the course syllabus. \n\n Teach all assigned classes in keeping with community college philosophy. \n\n Be knowledgeable about pedagogy, methods, retention, inclusion, and assessment of outcomes (or be available and willing to receive training in these areas) \n\n One week prior to the first day of class, provide the Department Chair or Faculty Lead with a copy of the course syllabus. Maintain and update syllabi for all courses included in the teaching assignments. \n\n At the first-class meeting, provide students with a syllabus for the course that includes all components of the course model syllabus, and the competencies established in the Colorado Common Course Numbering System. \n\n Conduct student evaluations of instruction in accordance with established policies and procedures at the end of the semester. \n\n Maintain accurate records of attendance and grading of students in the college learning management system—Desire2Learn (D2L)—and submit required records according to published instructions and deadlines.  \n\n Complete the Learning Management System training, New Faculty/Instructor Orientation, and Web Accessibility Training. \n\n Attend required meetings \n\n Supporting student activities. \n\n Participating in in-service programs and professional development activities. \n All other assigned tasks.\n\n \nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:\n \n\n Associate’s degree in construction management, architecture, civil or construction-related engineering, or construction-related field earned from a regionally accredited institution; Non-degreed professionals with relevant certificates and/or work experience will be considered on a year-to-year equivalency basis.\n\n Substantial construction, architecture, or engineering industry experience (10 years+) in one or more of the following construction market sectors: commercial, large-scale residential construction, heavy civil, infrastructure, or specialty contracting. \n\n 2,000 verified occupational/industry hours within the last 7 years. \n\n(Note: Occupational hours older than 7 years may be accepted if the applicant has been teaching in the content area for at least 3 years full-time or at least 6 years part-time.) \n\n Eligible for CTE credentialing in the state of Colorado. \n\n Commitment to learning innovative ideas for classroom presentations and dynamic class interactions to engage student learning in a meaningful way. \n\n Demonstrated proficiency in software(s) relevant to the construction industry (Procore, Project, CAD, Revit, BIM, etc.) \n\n Demonstrated culturally responsive, student-centered approach to teaching and learning. \n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\n\n Previous teaching experience, with 2-year college-level. \n Bachelor’s Degree in construction management, architecture, civil or construction-related engineering, or construction-related field earned from a regionally accredited institution. \n\n Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with people of diverse identities, and willingness to engage in professional development activities to improve understanding and effectiveness of working with racially, culturally, and linguistically diverse populations. \n\n Experience working at a Hispanic Serving institution, and/or Minority Serving Institution and/or in programs aimed at encouraging access, retention, and completion of diverse student populations. \n\n Demonstrated interest in engaging and impacting underrepresented students. \n\n For candidates with interest in online teaching, experience teaching online college-level courses. \n\n \nSUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION\nSalary: Instructional hours will be paid at the current base Instructor rate, which is $1213.00 per credit hour. \nPosition Specifics: Position is part-time.
