Job Description Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Financial Analyst/Principal Financial Analyst to support the Division Rates Manager in the Weapons Systems Division. The role collaborates closely with Sector, Division, and Business Unit management teams and is based onsite in McLean, VA, or at major Business Unit locations in Allegany, WV; Elkton, MD; or Plymouth, MN. Position Responsibilities and Duties Coordinate rate segment budgets and monitor costs; analyze year‑to‑date rate variances and review forecasted positions. Communicate budget performance, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders. Build processes and visibility tools for the Weapons Systems Division. Create financial bridging data between Cognos financial planning (NGFP) and budgeting (NGRB) tools to ensure alignment. Support various business management functions, including affordability and scenario analysis, charging guidance, and ad‑hoc queries. Participate in Forward Pricing Rate Proposal (FPRP) development and packaging. Defend FPRP estimates during DCAA/DCMA audits by ensuring fully supportable Basis of Estimates (BOEs). Ensure compliance with applicable NGDS Sector Principles and Operating Practices (PrOP), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR); incorporate and communicate relevant segment disclosure statement changes during planning cycles. Basic Qualifications Proficiency with MS Office Suite, especially Excel, and familiarity with Word and PowerPoint. Understanding of government rate lifecycles and dependencies. Experience with an accounting system (SAP/S4 or Costpoint) and IBM Cognos Analytics/Reporting platforms. Analytical mindset; ability to make recommendations based on data and experience. Clear communication skills, adaptable for peers, senior management, and sector leadership. Must be able to work onsite. Financial Analyst Level 2 High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 7 years of related experience preparing financial data and performing analysis. Will also consider: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field with 3 years of professional experience. Master’s degree in a related field with no professional experience. Principal Financial Analyst Level 3 High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 9 years of related experience preparing financial data and performing analysis. Will also consider: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field with 5 years of professional experience. Master’s degree in a related field with 3 years of related professional experience. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in the aerospace and defense industry. Self‑motivated yet collaborative in a team environment. Detail‑oriented and results‑focused; delivers accurate results under time‑sensitive conditions. Excellent organizational and prioritization skills. Familiarity with Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). Salary Primary Level: $65,500.00 – $113,800.00. Secondary Level: $89,900.00 – $141,200.00. Base salary is determined by scope and responsibilities, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and market conditions.
