Sources of Strength Program Coordinator

Salary: Stipend $1500 annually The School District of Ashland is seeking someone to coordinate the implementation and facilitation of the Sources of Strength program ensuring long-term sustainability of the program. Sources of Strength is abest practice youth suicide prevention project designed to harness the power of peer social networks to change unhealthy norms and culture, ultimately preventing suicide, bullying, and substance abuse. The mission of Sources of Strength is to prevent suicide by increasing help-seeking behaviors and promoting connections between peers and caring adults. Sources of Strength moves beyond a singular focus on risk factors by utilizing an upstream approach for youth suicide prevention. This upstream model strengthens multiple sources of support (protective factors) around young individuals so that when times get hard they have strengths to rely on. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following : Planning, scheduling and logistics coordination for the annual Sources of Strength training to occur during the first 6 weeks of school each year. Recruiting and coordinating Adult Advisors at the school. Ensuring ongoing and regular meetings with SoS Peer Leaders at school. Preparing and overseeing annual SoS budget for each building. Overseeing annual Peer-Leader recruitment following Sources of Strength guidelines. Overseeing Sources of Strength Social media campaigns and public communications. Oversee the evaluation of programming to ensure programmatic fidelity. Ongoing support and coordination of student led campaigns. Coordination of programming with other SOS Advisors. Qualifications: Previous participation in or willingness to participate in annual Sources of Strength training. Strength-based, growth mindset. Willingness to seek out, recruit and nurture students who have not been traditionally considered “leaders.” Fun, inclusive and collaborative attitude.
