Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:

Provides specialized nursing care to patients in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) during Phase I and Phase II recovery, ensuring safe transition from anesthesia to discharge. Collaborates with healthcare team members to deliver high-quality, evidence-based post-anesthesia nursing services.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient condition upon arrival in PACU, identifying acuity levels and prioritizing care needs.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on ongoing patient assessments and anesthesia records.
• Monitor and maintain airway patency, oxygen saturation, and pain management interventions.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and team members regarding patient status and care plans.
• Ensure emergency equipment and supplies are available, functional, and ready for immediate use.
• Evaluate patient progress against discharge guidelines, adjusting care plans as necessary to ensure safety.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid Pennsylvania RN license.
• Complete an accredited registered nurse program.
• Possess current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification per American Heart Association standards, with renewals every two years.
• Preferably have prior PACU or Critical Care experience.
• Demonstrate excellent communication, teamwork, and professional judgment skills.
• Exhibit strong emotional resilience and ability to handle stress effectively.
