Weighing Team Lead - 2nd Shift

Responsible for leading the daily operations of the Weighing Department by working with weighing staff, coordinating workflow, and ensuring the accurate and timely weighing of ingredients in accordance with production schedules, formulas, and quality standards.

 

Core Functions and Duties

• Lead and oversee daily weighing operations to ensure ingredients are accurately weighed according to batch sheets, recipes, SOPS & production schedules
• Assign, organize & prioritize daily workloads to ensure weighing activities are completed on time and production schedules are met.
• Ensure FIFO practices are followed when staging and issuing raw materials, including the use of surplus ingredients before pulling new inventory.
• Verify all pre-weighed ingredients are properly identified, labeled and staged, including allergen, organic and other required product segregation.
• Maintain accurate weighing documentation and communicate ingredient shortages, inventory discrepancies or schedule impacts to Production Management.
• Coordinate with Material Handlers to ensure ingredients are staged, organized and available for production in the correct FIFO order.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of ingredient storage areas, including weighing racks and ingredient coolers.
• Coordinate with Mixing, QA, Receiving, Inventory Control and Production Clerical to support ingredient availability, schedule changes, ingredient extensions and batch adjustments.
• Assist the Mixing and Weighing departments with ingredient retrieval, restocking and inventory reconciliation as needed.
• Oversee spice cooking task to ensure ingredients are prepared according to production requirements.
• Train, coach, develop and monitor weighing personnel while ensuring compliance with GMPs, food safety requirements, company policies and safety procedures.
• Identify and report safety hazards, equipment issues or process concerns that may impact employee safety, product quality or production efficiency.

Required Qualifications and Competencies

1. High school diploma or equivalent required

2. Minimum 1 yr of work experience.

3. Knowledge: basic mathematics-addition, subtraction, multiplication

4. Skills: Communication skills verbal and written, reading comprehension, active listening, problem solving, coordination, service orientation, multitasking, team player, leadership qualities, independent, detail oriented
