Accounting/Payroll Manager

Accounting & Payroll Manager Pay: $80,000–$90,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. Full-Time | On-Site Position Summary We are seeking a highly capable Accounting & Payroll Manager to oversee the full scope of accounting operations and payroll processing for our organization. The ideal candidate holds an active CPA license with tax experience; however, exceptionally qualified candidates with deep payroll and accounting expertise combined with strong technology proficiency will also be considered. This is a key leadership role requiring both technical accuracy and the ability to leverage modern software tools to drive efficiency. Key Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Management Manage the full-cycle accounting function including general ledger, journal entries, and month-end/year-end close processes Prepare and review financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports Maintain chart of accounts and ensure accuracy and integrity of all financial data Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit preparation Payroll Management Process and manage end-to-end payroll for all employees accurately and on schedule Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations Handle payroll tax filings, W-2s, 1099s, and related reporting requirements Administer payroll deductions including benefits, garnishments, and retirement contributions Maintain payroll records and respond to employee inquiries regarding compensation Tax & Compliance Prepare or coordinate preparation of business tax returns and related schedules (preferred) Monitor changes in tax laws and ensure ongoing organizational compliance Manage sales tax, use tax, and other state/local tax obligations as applicable Technology & Systems Administer and optimize accounting and payroll software platforms Identify and implement technology solutions to streamline financial operations Build and maintain reports, dashboards, and automated workflows Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Active CPA license Experience with business or individual tax preparation and planning 5+ years of progressive accounting and payroll experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Required Qualifications (if CPA/tax experience not held) Demonstrated mastery of full-cycle payroll processing and payroll tax compliance Strong working knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and financial reporting Proven ability to manage all accounting functions independently and accurately High degree of technology proficiency — including advanced use of accounting/payroll software, Excel/Google Sheets, and openness to adopting new tools Graduation from a standard high school or vocational school. All Candidates Must Demonstrate Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment Effective communication skills, both written and verbal High degree of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information Technology Proficiency Candidates must be comfortable working with accounting and payroll platforms (e.g., QuickBooks, ADP, Paychex, Gusto, Sage, or similar), as well as standard productivity tools.
