NPI Hardware Quality Engineer, Accessories

WHOOP empowers members to perform at a higher level through a deeper understanding of their bodies and daily lives.WHOOP is hiring an NPI Hardware Quality Engineer, Accessories to help ensure that new accessory products meet WHOOP quality standards, regulatory requirements, and member expectations from concept through launch. In this role, you will partner closely with Accessories & Apparel, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain & Operations, Deployment, Global Support Services, and Quality teams to drive quality planning, risk management, validation readiness, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement across the accessory product lifecycle.RESPONSIBILITIES: Own the end-to-end NPI quality operating model for accessory programs, ensuring consistent phase-based deliverables, gate criteria, and launch readiness standardsLead product and process risk management activities, including risk assessments, DFMEA, validation planning, and mitigation strategies to proactively identify and reduce quality risksPartner with cross-functional stakeholders across Accessories & Apparel, Hardware Engineering, Supply Chain, Deployment, Global Support Services, and Quality to define and deliver accessory quality requirementsDrive root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions for high-impact quality issues, using data-driven quality tools to prevent recurrenceReview quality control plans and partner with Supplier Quality Engineering and manufacturing teams to support implementation for accessory productsDevelop data-driven insights, dashboards, and program reporting to guide quality decisions, track readiness, and support sustaining product quality activitiesQUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field3–5+ years of experience in product quality, NPI quality, supplier quality, or product development quality, preferably within consumer electronics, wearable technology, wellness/fitness, medical device, or high-tech industriesExperience supporting quality activities across NPI or product development cycles, including validation planning, launch readiness, and sustaining quality supportTechnical knowledge of accessory materials, components, and manufacturing processes, such as soft goods, metals, plastics, or wearable electronics componentsExperience with DFMEA, risk assessment methodologies, validation planning, quality control plans, and root cause analysis toolsStrong ability to communicate quality insights and recommendations using objective data to influence cross-functional stakeholders at multiple levels of the organizationFamiliarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management System standards, statistical data analysis, Six Sigma, or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer practices preferredStrong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributionsThis role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. Within each range, individual pay is based on factors such as job-related skills, experience, performance, and relevant education or training. In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate will also receive benefits and a generous equity package.These ranges may be modified in the future to reflect evolving market conditions and organizational needs. While most offers will typically fall toward the starting point of the range, total compensation will depend on the candidate’s specific qualifications, expertise, and alignment with the role’s requirements.
