A typical day for a Lead Custodian begins by reviewing the cleaning schedule and coordinating assignments for the custodial crew. As a working leader, the Lead Custodian ensures priority areas such as offices, restrooms, and public spaces are cleaned and ready for daily operations.
Throughout the shift, the Lead Custodian works alongside the team performing custodial duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and floor care, while monitoring work quality and providing guidance to staff. The role also involves training employees on proper cleaning procedures, equipment use, and safety practices. In addition to daily cleaning responsibilities, the Lead Custodian helps maintain timesheets, monitors supplies and equipment, and assists with preparing facilities for meetings or special events. - Operation and maintenance or a wide variety of hand and power tools and equipment used in custodial work.
