Principal Risk Associate, Tech & Cyber Risk | Retail Bank As a Principal Associate of Tech & Cyber Risk within Capital One’s Business Risk Office, you will drive end-to-end risk management by partnering directly with technology stakeholders and engineering teams to identify, assess, and mitigate technology and cyber risks. In this high-impact role, you will leverage your strong project management, communication, and analytical skills to support cutting‑edge technology initiatives and promote strategic risk management across the organization. You will be hands‑on in evaluating risks for AI implementations, supporting the technology integration of acquired companies, and monitoring risk posture within large‑scale architecture transformation programs. By overseeing remediation efforts and tracking key metrics, you will help teams proactively align with enterprise policies, ensuring the ongoing resilience and security of our technology ecosystem. Key Responsibilities End‑to‑End Risk Management & Execution – Drive risk assessments, manage the lifecycle from implementation through remediation tracking and successful risk finding closure. Project Management & Stakeholder Engagement – Prioritize risk initiatives, set clear scope, deliver results on time, and build strong relationships across engineering and risk functions. Process Improvement & Program Execution – Identify, design, and implement enhancements to streamline risk identification, assessment, and mitigation workflows. Metrics, Reporting & Compliance – Monitor and analyze risk metrics and dashboards, partner with stakeholders on remediation oversight, and prepare compliance documentation for audit engagements. Basic Qualifications 3+ years in Technology Risk Management, Cybersecurity, IT Audit, or Technology Consulting. Preferred Qualifications Certifications: CISA, CRISC, CISM, CISSP, or equivalent. Familiarity with AI risk management frameworks or interest in obtaining Certified AI Governance Professional (AIGP). Experience in a large financial services institution or a highly regulated environment. Compensation McLean, VA: $131,300 – $149,800 Richmond, VA: $119,400 – $136,200 Salary ranges are based on location; actual offers will be communicated in the offer letter. The role is also eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation that may include cash bonus(es) and/or long‑term incentives.
