Description Value Add (Cut Fruit) Manager Position Objective: To assist customers in their shopping experience by leading all aspects of the Value Added (Cut Fruit) team in a way that not only promotes growth for the company, but also results in a team that delivers the product and service Cosentino’s customers have come to expect. Reporting Structure: This position formally reports to the Produce Manager. Status: This is a non‑exempt position. Knowledge A food handling permit must be obtained within the first 14 days of employment. Completion of ongoing training and development as listed on the Cosentino’s Learning Plan. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Skills Essential Job Functions Effectively set and implement a strategy for achieving operational excellence within the department (i.e. labor management, profit and sales analysis, etc.), as well as implement operational goals set at the corporate level. Clearly communicate to team members the goals that have been set for the department, then implement plans to reach those set goals. Promote a positive overall team atmosphere that includes cooperation and teamwork, high morale, positive interpersonal interactions and communications, and recognition for a job well done. Provide direct supervision of the activities of all other members of the team in a manner that is operationally effective, but is also motivating and respectful. Resolve customer complaints in a professional manner and recognize when it is appropriate to involve a member of the store management team. Know and implement the Cosentino’s Customer Service Standards. Promote sales through effective merchandising, creative displays and suggesting products to customers. Know your department’s items, procedures and policies so that you can accurately and courteously answer customer questions. Prepare, display, and package value added contents in a safe, visually appealing manner. Actively monitor quality and freshness of value added section, including temperature and other health, sanitation and safety aspects. Utilize proper rotation techniques. Accurately price and label items and display them appropriately on the shelf. Able to operate, clean and maintain all equipment safely and competently. Meet or exceed productivity standards to achieve produce desired team and individual results. Actively work to keep your work area and your department as a whole clean and safe for customers and coworkers. Know, comply with, and ensure the team complies with all health regulations, sanitation guidelines and safety procedures for your department and your store. Demonstrates the strong verbal and interpersonal skills necessary for positive customer and peer interactions. Demonstrates the basic math and reading skills required for the position. Non‑Essential Job Functions Conduct effective interviews to hire the highest quality candidates for the team. Assist upper management in providing effective coaching, corrective actions, and performance evaluations to improve individual and team performance. Assist upper management in addressing employee relations issues and, if needed, effectively work with the Human Resource team to resolve issues. Ensure all new employees receive orientation and training as needed. Practice open communication with store management team regarding any issues in the department. Quickly unload incoming shipments and neatly stock items in their designated areas without damaging merchandise. Support the company by completing additional tasks identified by management, assisting other stores or departments as needed and gaining new skills when necessary. Physical Abilities Essential Abilities Reaching overhead with both arms up to a maximum of 72 inches, twisting at the waist and lifting objects with both hands weighing up to 10 lbs. Pushing and pulling grocery items to the proper locations as needed, up to a peak force of 20 lbs. Standing and walking for long periods of time on tile, asphalt, concrete or other hard surfaces. Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs. Bending and squatting, at times all the way to floor level. Able to work in colder conditions of the grocery coolers and freezers. Non‑Essential Abilities Climbing a ladder, possibly up to 5ft. Travel Required Yes Qualifications Education: High School or better. Experience: 1 year of Food Safety Training; 1 year of Customer Service; 1 year of Knife and cutting tool skills; 1–3 years experience in retail produce or grocery management preferred.
