Regulatory Compliance Manager

Speks is a Manhattan-based product design company creating premium sensory products for teens and adults, selling globally across wholesale, retail, and DTC. We're growing fast. Regulatory Compliance Manager We are hiring a Regulatory Compliance Manager to oversee regulatory compliance, product testing, and retail vendor compliance across our hard goods business. This role is central to how we scale without letting standards slip. Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance and Product Testing Own regulatory compliance across all markets, both US and internationally; track changes and ensure products are always in bounds. Project‑manage product testing programs end to end for hard goods, from selecting accredited labs to reviewing results and resolving failures. Partner with outside consultants and counsel to define, refine, and validate testing protocol. Audit our current testing program on an ongoing basis, identifying coverage gaps and driving resolution. Understand the specific testing requirements that apply to physical consumer products, including materials safety, mechanical testing, and market‑specific certifications. Ensure all products carry the required certifications and that documentation is current and complete. Manage test reports, certifications, and compliance records across all SKUs. Keep documentation audit‑ready at all times. Proactively identify regulatory risks and address them before they delay production or shipments. Vendor Compliance (Regulatory Scope) Own the regulatory compliance requirements set by major retail accounts, including Target, Walmart, and other key accounts. Provide and maintain the documentation retailers require: certifications, test reports, and compliance records. Execute on supplier‑required audits and testing, coordinating with factories and labs to keep everything current. Stay current on retailer regulatory requirement updates and cascade changes to factories and internal teams promptly. Prevent compliance‑related chargebacks, fines, and rejections by catching documentation or testing gaps before orders ship. Systems and Implementation Build and implement regulatory and vendor compliance systems, not just manage existing ones. Ownership over onboarding and executing CPSC's e‑filing system. Design processes that create consistency and accountability across vendors and channels. Proactively identify gaps before they become issues. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in regulatory compliance or product compliance within hard goods consumer products. Toy industry experience is a plus. Strong project management skills; comfortable owning timelines and deliverables across multiple external partners. Strong background in regulatory compliance and product testing for hard goods in the US and EU/UK. Toy industry compliance is a plus. Experience project‑managing testing programs with accredited labs, and partnering with outside consultants and counsel on testing protocol. Experience auditing or building out a testing program to ensure coverage is current and complete. Experience with major retailer regulatory requirements: required documentation, certifications, supplier audits, and testing. Experience working with overseas manufacturers on regulatory documentation, audits, and testing. Experience building and implementing compliance systems from scratch.
