Exercise Physiologist - Cardiac Imaging

Hourly Pay Range $26.61 - $39.92 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors. Position Highlights Position: Exercise Physiologist Location: Glenbrook Hospital Hours: 40 hours per week Schedule: M-F, 7:30-4:00pm, rotating Saturday and Sunday, and rotating holidays. Rotation to Skokie and Highland Park as needed Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in an exercise science or a related field (e.g. Kinesiology or Physical Education). Current CPR Certification issued by either American Heart Association or Red Cross. ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (within 6 months of hire). Experience in cardiac stress testing or clinical cardiology setting preferred. Strong knowledge of cardiovascular physiology and ECG interpretation. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Responsibilities Conduct and monitor cardiac stress testing, including treadmill and pharmacologic stress exams, in accordance with established protocols. Perform EKGs and application of cardiac monitors (Zio, Holter) according to department protocol. Initiate and maintain intravenous (IV) access for pharmacologic stress testing and contrast administration, following safety and infection control standards. Continuously assess patient response during testing (heart rate, blood pressure, ECG changes, symptoms) and respond appropriately to ensure patient safety. Prepare patients for procedures by explaining test protocols, obtaining relevant history, and ensuring proper electrode placement and equipment setup. Collaborate closely with cardiologists, sonographers, and nursing staff to support high-quality cardiac imaging studies. Recognize and promptly communicate abnormal or critical findings to the supervising physician. Ensure accurate and timely documentation of test results and patient data in the electronic medical record. Maintain and calibrate stress testing equipment, ensuring functionality and compliance with safety standards. Adhere to all regulatory, accreditation, and infection control requirements. Support efficient patient flow and scheduling to optimize lab productivity and minimize delays. Provide compassionate patient care, ensuring comfort, understanding, and safety throughout the testing process. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain required certifications (e.g., ACLS, BLS).
