Special Education Paraeducator QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma
- NH Department of Education Paraeducator Certification
- Experience working with students preferred
- Strong organizational skills
- Good communication skills
- Good general knowledge skills
- To understand the IEP in order to implement goals, objectives and accommodations as assigned by the case manager.
- To collect data as assigned by the case manager or related service provider.
- To implement a behavior plan.
- To develop a system of communication with all staff members working with assigned students.
- To alert the teacher or case manager of any problem or special information about an individual student including special strategies or instructions.
- To arrive at duty stations on time and prepared.
- To maintain a high level of ethical behavior including confidentiality of information about students.
- To work with individual and/or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
- To assist with organizational skills and oversee work completion.
- To operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes or as adaptive equipment.
- To help students utilize manipulatives and master instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
- To distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and other materials for distribution as directed by the classroom teacher.
- To guide remedial work set up and assigned by a classroom teacher or case manager.
- To assist with supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods and field trips.
- To read to students, listen to students read, and participate in other forms of oral communication with students.
- To check notebooks, supervise testing and make up work as assigned by the classroom teacher.
- To assist with regular school routine.
- To assist with wash up and toilet routines.
- To assist students with their clothing.
- To participate in training to help develop classroom skills.
- To be dependable in promptness and attendance.
- And all other duties as assigned.
