Work Shift Night (United States of America) Job Summary Registered Nurse RN – Acute Care Ortho Surgical – Full‑Time Night Shift The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized, high‑quality, safe patient care. The role is conducted in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and supported through Wellstar’s Shared Governance Model and Professional Practice Model. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Performs the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) using evidence‑based practice and analytical/critical thinking to ensure individualized care and effective partnership coordination. Provides relationship‑based, patient‑centered care consistent with population‑specific characteristics and adapts service delivery to reflect cultural diversity. Partners with patients and significant others using appropriate methods for goal setting, including bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient teaching. Practices using current clinical practice standards. Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care, promoting a respectful and inclusive clinical environment. Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration, practicing in a fiscally responsible manner and supporting recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members. Participates in performance improvement, research utilization, and shared governance at all system levels. Completes initial and ongoing professional competency assessment and mandatory education, including population‑specific education. Serves as preceptor/mentor for other professional nurses and staff/students to build a future qualified workforce. Promotes evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement, including value analysis and data collection to address practice questions. Plans for patient care across the continuum and supports efficient use of human and material resources. Participates in development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes. Performs additional duties as assigned and complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Required Minimum Education Associate’s Nursing or Diploma (RN) Nursing Bachelor’s Nursing – Preferred Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) RN – Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT – RN – Multi‑state Compact BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support – Instructor Required Minimum Experience Minimum 2 years direct patient care nursing experience. Required Minimum Skills Ability to read, write and speak English; optimize use of technology to support clinical care; basic computer skills. Strong interpersonal, collaborative and customer service skills. Ability to function in a fast paced environment and respond to emergencies with decisiveness, composure and respect.
