As a Residential HVAC Field Service Specialist, you’ll be the face of that promise—reporting to the HVAC Service Supervisor and working closely with Operations to make sure every job is done correctly.

A day in your work boots

You start your morning reviewing your schedule with the office team. You stock the truck with parts you ordered the day before, drive to your first residential call, and greet the homeowner. From there, you diagnose, maintain, and repair heating and cooling systems—clearly explaining what you’re doing and why. You wrap up by recording results, debriefing with dispatch, and leaving the work area spotless—then it’s on to the next neighbor who needs your expertise.

What you’ll take on

• Service, maintain, and repair residential heating and air conditioning equipment.
• Inspect ductwork and ensure company tools/materials remain in safe, serviceable condition.
• Identify system components, complete wiring, and perform system start-ups.
• Troubleshoot issues, recommend solutions, and complete repairs to restore peak performance.
• Perform start-ups, test operation, and record results to verify proper function.
• Conduct full system inspections and communicate concerns to dispatch and customers.
• Explain all services and repairs performed in clear terms.
• Coordinate daily with the office to manage your schedule.
• Order required parts in advance so every appointment is set up for success.
• Transport parts, materials, and tools to each job and accurately account for assigned inventory.
• Complete digital paperwork neatly and on time.
• Debrief each call with dispatch and document work performed.
• Leave the job site tidy and conduct a final cleanliness check.
• Keep your company vehicle organized and clean, inside and out.
• Uphold company performance standards and code of ethics.
• Deliver courteous, professional service to customers and teammates.
• Use protective shoe covers while working inside customer homes.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1+ year of HVAC service experience.
• EPA Certification.
• Soldering/brazing capability.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both spoken and written.
• Beginner-level computer skills; able to use a computer, laptop, or tablet.
• Basic internet and email proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Outlook).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to work overtime with short notice; occasional weekends.

Preferred qualifications

• HVAC trade school credential.
• 1–2 years of experience in construction, HVAC, or a related field.

Where you’ll work

• Primarily at occupied homes and residential construction sites; minimal office time.
• Drive between job locations.
• Exposure to active construction settings (heights, confined spaces, noise, dust, odors, and hazardous materials).
• Work indoors and outdoors in all weather (heat, rain, cold, wind) with appropriate PPE.

Physical requirements

• Operate a motorized passenger vehicle or forklift.
• Lift/move up to 50 lbs frequently.
• Regular climbing, bending, crawling, kneeling, and crouching.
• Work at heights; climb ladders and stairs; occasional work on platforms/scaffolding using required fall protection.
• Wear required PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, masks/respirators, reflective vests, gloves, and safety-toe, construction-grade boots.
• Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
• Hear and distinguish speech and other sounds to safely operate phones/equipment.
• Normal depth perception and the ability to focus at close, distance, and peripheral ranges (with or without correction).
• Clearly convey information verbally.
• Enter data on handhelds/computers via standard keyboard or 10-key.
• Use arms/hands to reach overhead; signal; grasp; hold; lift; turn; push; and pull tools/materials.
