Freight Handler

Freight HandlerXpedient is a full-service third-party logistics provider supporting a diverse client base across warehousing, transportation management, supply chain solutions, order fulfillment, and labor services. We are seeking dependable and hardworking Freight Handlers to join our warehouse team in Shorewood, Illinois. In this role, you will unload, sort, stage, and move furniture products safely and efficiently while maintaining quality and productivity standards. This role requires a high level of physical stamina, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and operational standards. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced warehouse environment and contributes to maintaining productivity and accuracy across daily operations. Compensation is paid at a piece rate of $0.63 per unit. Employees are guaranteed payment of at least the applicable Illinois minimum wage for all hours worked each pay period. Employees may earn more than the guaranteed minimum based on $15 per hour on productivity. Overtime compensation will be paid as required by law.Roles and Responsibilities:Load, unload, and manually stack inventory from containers and trailers onto pallets in accordance with operational standardsUtilize proper inventory stacking techniques to ensure loads are stable, secure, and safe for transport and storageSort and stage inventory accurately based on shipping and receiving documentationVerify trailer suitability and ensure alignment with load specificationsAccurately complete paperwork and maintain precise inventory countsExecute daily production schedules as directed by supervisors or site managementOperate manual pallet jacks to move pallets safely within the warehouseMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environmentFollow all company policies, site procedures, and safety protocolsPerform additional duties as assigned to support operational needsSafety:Adhere to all OSHA and MSDS standards and company safety policiesFollow proper lifting techniques and safe material handling practicesReport safety concerns, incidents, or hazards promptlySupport and promote a culture of safety and accountability on-siteAssist in maintaining compliance with warehouse safety procedures and inspectionsMinimum Qualifications and Physical Demands:Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 70 lbs continuouslyAbility to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive movements for extended periodsAbility to exert significant physical effort, including core and lower back strengthAbility to work in a warehouse environment with varying conditionsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionStrong attention to detail and commitment to accuracyAbility to follow written and verbal instructions and complete documentation accuratelyComfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environmentFlexible and adaptable to changing priorities and workloadsXpedient Logistics is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
