Assistant Project Manager – Mechanical ConstructionWest Kansas City Metro | Full-Time | $75,000–$90,000 BaseA commercial mechanical contractor in the West Kansas City Metro is adding an Assistant Project Manager as newly awarded construction projects move into execution. This is a good opportunity for someone early in their construction career who has gained some project experience and wants to continue developing on the project management side of commercial mechanical construction.You'll work directly with Project Managers, superintendents, field teams, vendors, and other project partners while gaining exposure to projects from turnover through construction and closeout.What You'll Be DoingSupport commercial and industrial mechanical construction projectsManage RFIs, submittals, procurement logs, equipment tracking, and project documentationCoordinate with vendors and subcontractors on material and equipment needsTrack equipment, material deliveries, and long-lead itemsAssist with project schedules and upcoming milestonesSupport change-order documentation and trackingParticipate in project meetings and follow up on assigned action itemsWork closely with superintendents and field teams to help resolve project needsAssist with cost tracking, billing, forecasting, and other project financial processesReview drawings, specifications, and mechanical scopesSupport commissioning, punch lists, closeout documentation, and project completionTake on increasing project responsibility as experience growsWhat We're Looking ForApproximately 1–3 years of relevant construction experienceExperience as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Project Coordinator, or similar role is helpfulMechanical construction experience is preferred, but not requiredBasic understanding of construction drawings, project documentation, and field coordinationStrong organization and follow-throughComfortable communicating with both field and office teamsInterest in building a long-term career in project managementCandidates with experience in HVAC, plumbing, piping, sheet metal, electrical, MEP, general contracting, or other commercial construction environments are encouraged to apply.A Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree is helpful, but relevant experience will also be considered.Why This RoleThe company has added several significant new construction projects to its backlog and is expanding its project management team ahead of the work.This position is intended to provide increasing exposure to the technical, field, financial, and operational sides of mechanical construction, with a path toward greater project ownership as you develop.Compensation & Benefits$75,000–$90,000 base salary, depending on experience100% employer-paid medical insurance premiums for employees and their familiesDental and vision insurance401(k) with company matchCompany profit-sharing programPaid time offPaid holidaysFull-time, year-round positionLocation: West Kansas City MetroRelated titles may include: Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, Mechanical Project Engineer, MEP Project Engineer, Project Coordinator, Assistant Construction Manager, or Junior Project Manager.
