Senior AccountantThis role is based in our South Austin HQ. The team works in office Monday–Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.Made In is the leader in the digitally-native kitchen space. We are backed by some of the best chefs in the world and have been featured in publications and shows such as the TODAY Show, NY Times, Fast Company, Business Insider, and more.To support our rapid growth, we're seeking a Senior Accountant, reporting to our Controller in our Austin, TX headquarters. You will be a key member of the accounting team by leading projects to identify low-lift/high-return business opportunities, and to improve the quality of information we deliver to our investors and our Board.What You'll Do:Revenue AccountingPrepare and record monthly revenue journal entries across omni channel environment ensuring accuracy and compliance with ASC 606Reconcile revenue-related balance sheet accounts, including deferred revenue, sales returns/allowances, and gift card liabilitiesAnalyze sales channel data (e-commerce platforms, wholesale orders, POS systems) to ensure revenue is recorded completely and accuratelySupport reserve calculations for returns, refunds, and discounts, and monitor trends against historical assumptions.Accounts Receivable OversightOversee daily AR operations, including invoicing, cash application, collections, and customer account maintenance performed by the AR Clerk.Monitor aging reports and partner with Hospitality and Wholesale channel sales leaders to resolve delinquent accounts and billing disputes.Review customer contracts to ensure accurate invoicing and revenue treatment.Track and report key A/R metrics, including DSO, and collections performance.Inventory AccountingOwn monthly inventory close activities, including reconciling inventory sub-ledgers to the general ledger across multiple warehouses/3PLsAnalyze cost of goods sold (COGS), landed cost, and inventory valuation adjustments.Partner with Operations to investigate and resolve inventory variances, cycle count discrepancies, and shrinkage.Assist with excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory reserve calculations and periodic physical inventory countsGeneral Accounting & Process ImprovementAssist with AI scripts/flows, system upgrades, and automation initiatives related to billing, revenue, and receivables.Develop and maintain process documentation and accounting policies.Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen controls and scalability.Identify opportunities to improve close efficiency, reporting accuracy, and internal controls.Participate in special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as assigned.Qualifications:3-5 years of progressive accounting experience is preferred.Bachelor's degree required, CPA a plus.Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles.Proficiency with NetSuite and Microsoft Excel skills.Excellent communicator who is skilled at building cross-functional relationships.Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.High attention to detail and ability to work independently and also collaboratively.Ability to work full-time at Austin, TX headquarters (St. Elmo).Experience in consumer products and with global companies.Experience with Avalara or similar sales tax software.Familiarity with process automation and reporting tools.Benefits We Offer:Competitive salary, 401k, healthcare benefits (including fertility and family-building care, mental health therapy, teladoc virtual health access along with HSA and FSA plans) and free and discounted cookwareA people-centric workplace with flexible time offA vibrant, lively office space in the heart of South Austin which includes our onsite studio kitchenMade In is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
