Medical Lab Technologist (ASCP)

Responsibilities 55% – Critical thinking, academic theory, facilitation/leadership, advanced customer service; perform complex analysis of all body fluids and tissues; determine the reliability of analytic data before releasing patient results; interpret information to make judgmental decisions and troubleshoot procedures and instruments; apply knowledge of medical data correlation, laboratory parameters, physiologic factors, medication effects, and treatments to assess data validity; use appropriate testing techniques to evaluate new methods; demonstrate safety and infection control practices; assist in gathering test data for evaluating new methods and installation of equipment. 15% – Customer service to clinicians and clients; communicate professionally with physician offices, clinical staff, and laboratory associates; communicate with patients and families, employing service recovery when necessary. 20% – Quality assurance and equipment maintenance; perform quality control checks on procedures, equipment, reagents, stains, etc.; document and interpret QC data to determine validity of patient results and instrument performance; review maintenance logs to ensure optimum system performance and prevent equipment failures. 5% – Continuing education and competencies; remain current in the field; train new employees and students; maintain competencies and mandatory educational requirements (ACE). 5% – Miscellaneous duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree: Applied Sciences (Required) ASCP certification (MLT) or equivalent certification as American Society for Clinical Pathology Work Schedule Full Time MLT on night shift; 36 hours weekly, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 12-hour shifts. Additional Job Description Field of study in applied science or medical laboratory technology including MLT internship; completion of Board of Registry examination of the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent.
