Temporary Research Technician - Clayton, NC Position Information Posting Number: PG195879TM Position Number: 11ASO3680 Position Type: Temporary This position will assist with all tasks related to the establishment, maintenance, and disposition of the field crops, vegetables, fruit, tobacco and animal specimens. This includes, but is not limited to: The application of treatments to research subjects according to protocol including pesticides, fertilizers and irrigation. Operation of a wide variety of agriculture equipment to prepare fields, apply treatments and harvest crops. Assisting research personnel with plot layout, implementation of treatments, and collection and recording of data. Hand planting and harvest. Assisting research personnel in the seed lab and swine facility. Working with various types of irrigation equipment including laying solid set pipe and drip irrigation. This position will also assist with maintenance of equipment, grounds, buildings, field plots, and other tasks. The validity of research tests depends upon the quality of work in the research technician position. Requirements and Preferences Knowledge of agricultural practices related to crop and livestock production. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a routine basis. Ability to operate farm equipment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read and follow pesticide labels. Ability to collect and record data. Experience in agriculture production.
