Mechanic / Large-Scale Assembler

This role supports a full-service piledriving manufacturing operation by performing mechanical work, large-scale assembly, and general shop support across multiple departments. You will work with heavy equipment and manufacturing machinery, assist with maintenance and repairs, and adapt quickly to changing tasks in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. The position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, a willingness to learn, and the flexibility to work overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of shop support tasks across multiple departments and switch between duties frequently as operational needs change.
• Assemble and service heavy equipment and large-scale mechanical components in a manufacturing environment.
• Rig hoses and various equipment safely for lifting and moving with a crane.
• Use hand and power tools, including torches, drills, and other tools commonly used in a manufacturing and mechanical setting.
• Assist in the operation of manufacturing equipment as required to support production.
• Perform and assist with building maintenance, grounds upkeep, and equipment maintenance as needed.
• Support preventive maintenance activities on heavy equipment and machinery.
• Troubleshoot and repair diesel, hydraulic, and mechanical systems with guidance as needed.
• Follow safety procedures while working around moving mechanical parts, vibration, and loud equipment.
• Work overtime on short notice when required to meet production or maintenance demands.
• Lift, carry, and move heavy objects, including items weighing at least 75 pounds, throughout the shift.
• Perform job duties while standing, bending, squatting, and kneeling for extended periods.

Essential Skills

• Experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or heavy industrial assembler.
• Hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial or equipment setting.
• Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and repair of diesel, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Comfort working with and around large tools and heavy industrial equipment.
• Ability to safely rig hoses and equipment for lifting with a crane.
• Proficiency using hand and power tools such as torches, drills, and other tools commonly used in manufacturing.
• Willingness to learn new tasks and follow direction with a positive, can-do attitude.
• Flexibility to work overtime, including last-minute overtime requests.
• Ability to lift at least 75 pounds and frequently lift, pull, and carry heavy objects without restriction.
• Ability to stand, bend, squat, and kneel for extended periods while performing mechanical and assembly work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Some electrical experience, including basic electrical troubleshooting, is a plus.
• Experience operating a heavy industrial forklift is a bonus.
• Experience operating an overhead crane is a bonus.
• Owning a personal set of tools, including a large-scale Allen wrench set, is preferred; larger tools that are not typically owned personally will be provided.

Work Environment

This is a hands-on role in a manufacturing and shop environment with frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the shop and job sites can be loud, and you will regularly work around heavy equipment, cranes, and industrial machinery. The position is physically demanding and requires the ability to lift at least 75 pounds, exert maximum force to pull and carry objects, and frequently lift without restriction. You will spend extended periods standing, bending, squatting, and kneeling while performing mechanical, assembly, and maintenance tasks. Standard industrial shop attire and appropriate personal protective equipment are expected to ensure safety in this environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $79040.00/yr. Benefits, dental, medical, vision, PTO, sick leave etc.
