Safety Manager

Position Summary The Safety Manager leads and oversees all aspects of Estron Chemical’s safety programs and initiatives. This position ensures regulatory compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant agencies, while promoting a strong organizational safety culture. Key responsibilities include managing compliance programs, training employees, handling incident reporting, and supervising safety personnel. Key Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance & Reporting Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA and related regulatory requirements. Manage OSHA-required programs including hazard communication, respiratory protection, emergency response, and reporting obligations. Conduct annual compliance reporting and maintain thorough documentation. Safety Program Management Lead plant-wide safety initiatives to ensure employee and community safety. Regularly update and maintain emergency response and safety plans. Lead the management of workers’ compensation cases. Supervise the selection, procurement, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Training & Development Develop, administer, and track safety training programs (confined space entry, hot work, AED/CPR, first aid, and other required programs). Conduct routine training sessions and ensure timely compliance and participation across shifts. Work closely with the Training Coordinator to develop documentation of all training events and ensure schedule compliance. Incident Response, Investigation & Corrective Action Actively respond to facility incidents. Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses thoroughly and objectively. Develop and implement effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Track corrective actions and communicate results to all stakeholders. Audits & Inspections Regularly conduct comprehensive safety inspections and audits. Be present in the facility to facilitate compliance and systems improvements. Oversee plant medical surveillance programs (annual physicals, drug testing, pre-employment screening). Leadership & Continuous Improvement Supervise safety department personnel and ensure effective performance management. Continually evaluate safety programs and procedures, recommending improvements. Lead company emergency response and safety improvement teams, including Hazardous Materials, Confined Space, and Safety Committees. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field required. Minimum of 5 years' safety management experience, preferably in chemical manufacturing or similar industries. Expertise in OSHA regulations and compliance reporting. Proven leadership experience supervising employees and managing safety programs. Familiarity with hazardous waste management and other EPA programs strongly preferred. 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred. Experience administering and tracking training through Learning Management Systems (LMS) preferred. Performance Expectations Maintain 100% compliance with all applicable OSHA and related regulatory requirements. Ensure completion of all required employee safety training within specified deadlines. Achieve zero lost-time incidents and minimize reportable incidents. Conduct safety audits and inspections per established schedules.
