Key Responsibilities Receive, screen and transfer phone calls Greet, screen and direct visitors Respond to inquiries from students, parents, staff and/or general public to provide information and/or direction Create daily staff and student bulletins and monthly staff and student calendars Process materials for the purpose of disseminating information to appropriate parties Regular and on-time attendance required Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools Required Qualifications High School education or equivalent Skills & Competencies Models the attributes and skills of the MPS Portrait of a Graduate Demonstrates commitment to the MPS Promise that every student is known by name, served by strength and need, and graduates ready for college, career and community Moderate proficiency in typing, with good accuracy; above average test battery Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, etc.) Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person Ability to operate general office machines and equipment Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with students, parents, district employees and public; to be tactful and diplomatic Ability to take initiative and to work with constant interruptions Work Environment & Physical Requirements Most of the time is spent at the front desk in the main office of a school Frequent communication with students, parents, staff, and visitors Fast-Paced: Especially during peak times like morning drop-off, lunchtime, and dismissal Must handle multiple tasks at once (e.g., phones ringing, people arriving, announcements) Regular use of office software for emails, attendance records, and scheduling Lifting/Carrying: Occasionally may need to lift office supplies or packages (typically under 20 lbs.)
