Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) registered nurse position available in Alton, Illinois. This role involves providing specialized patient care in a 12-bed ICU setting, managing critically ill patients with conditions such as CHF, COPD, Sepsis, MI, DKA, COVID, and vented patients. The position requires adherence to established clinical protocols and requires flexibility to float to medical-surgical units when necessary.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Active Illinois license; certifications including BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association), NIHSS; minimum of 2 years of ICU experience; ability to read cardiac rhythm strips.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with titrating ICU drips such as paralytics, sedatives, and cardiovascular medications.
• Float: ICU travel RNs may float to medical-surgical units if needed.
• Additional Information: The unit operates a charge nurse on each shift, with a nurse supervisor present 24/7. No nurse aides or patient care technicians are assigned to this unit. The hospitalist and intensivist are present in the ICU 24/7, providing continuous medical oversight. RNs are responsible for troubleshooting ventilators and other RT equipment but do not typically read their own cardiac strips; tele/monitor techs are present to oversee monitor readings. Orientation includes three daysday one online modules and general facility orientation, days two and three on the floor with a nurse.
