Beloit Health System at Beloit Health System is seeking an experienced and compassionate Emergency Department Registered Nurse to deliver outstanding care in our fast-paced emergency setting.Sign-On Bonus: YesShift: 1st/2nd varied or 3rd shiftSchedule: 12 hour shifts, varied start timeHours per week: 24 or 36 hours per weekBenefits Status: Benefits EligibleDepartment: Emergency DepartmentIn this position the Registered Nurse- Emergency Department will complete nursing duties which will include working triage, assessing and caring for critically ill patients, and working with trauma patients. The Registered Nurse- Emergency Department cares for people who are sick, injured, disabled, and suffer various types of illness or trauma requiring emergency attention and must be able to recognize and effectively treat life-threatening conditions. The Registered Nurse- Emergency Department delivers care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, triage, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, in accordance with Wisconsin state licensures, policies, procedures, and evidence-based standards of care. The Registered Nurse- Emergency Department thinks critically, remains calm under pressure, shows patience and empathy, effectively interacts with patients and significant others, while maintaining the standard of professional nursing.Performs triage, while considering both physical and psychological elementsManages multiple cases simultaneously, prioritizing needs continuallyCollects current symptoms, as well as detailed patient history and consults and coordinates with the ED healthcare teamDetects changes in symptoms, health or pain, and knows when action is necessary Manages basic life support needs and stabilizes patients until the physician is available based on policies, protocols, and standards of careMaintains accurate and up-to-date patient charts including vital signs and patient assessmentsInitiates corrective action whenever the information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomologyWorks directly under the physicians and licensed providers, assisting during exams, diagnostic testing, and treatmentsPrepares and administers medication as prescribed and records the administered medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments following the policy regarding the administration of medications Provides basic bedside nursing careCollaborates professionally with the agencies involved with the Emergency Department, and reports any suspected abuse to appropriate agenciesCollaborates with EMS/paramedics in the care of a patient and provides a professional, respectful, and educational working environmentMaintains proper supplies and adequate medical equipment to care for patientsDisplays professionalism with completing multiple urgent tasks promptlyInitiates patient education as prescribed by the physician or licensed provider to include teaching patients and significant others about illness/injury, by explaining post-treatment homecare needs, diet/nutrition/exercise, self-administering medication, and rehabilitation, as well as providing referral information for follow-up treatmentRecords all care information concisely, accurately, and entirely, in a timely manner in the appropriate format and on appropriate forms or in the electronic health recordComplies with all legal and safety requirements, and all hospital rules, regulations, and policiesAttends medical emergencies in the hospital and on hospital grounds per policyActively participates in quality improvement in the department and attends all required training and continuing education eventsAdheres to corporate values and defined work habits of Beloit Health System Keeps personal medical information about patients confidentialPerforms other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment settingJob RequirementsGraduate of accredited school of nursingADN, Diploma, BSN, or MSN degree acceptableState of Wisconsin nursing licensure or permit requiredState of Illinois nursing licensure or permit required (NorthPointe)Must be CPR certified within three months of hireSuccessful ACLS completion within six months of hireSuccessful PALS completion within one year of hireTNCC or TNS highly recommendedStrong ability to deal with patients and families in various states of illness, pain, trauma, shock, and tragedy.
