Compliance Intern

Position Summary The Compliance Intern provides administrative and project-based support to the Compliance Department. This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with organizational compliance, documentation, recordkeeping, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements within a nonprofit human-services organization. The Compliance Intern will assist with general compliance-related projects while learning about the policies, procedures, and standards that help ensure the organization operates effectively and in accordance with applicable requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with organizing, reviewing, and maintaining compliance-related records and documentation.Support internal file reviews, audits, and quality-assurance activities.Assist with tracking required forms, licenses, certifications, training records, and other documentation.Help prepare documents and materials for internal or external reviews.Review records for completeness and notify the appropriate staff member when information is missing.Assist with data entry, spreadsheets, reports, and compliance tracking tools.Support the review and organization of organizational policies and procedures.Conduct basic research on compliance requirements, regulations, or best practices as assigned.Assist with special projects related to compliance, risk management, quality improvement, or accreditation.Maintain confidentiality regarding employee, client, and organizational information.Perform additional duties and projects as assigned. Learning Opportunities The Compliance Intern may gain experience in the following areas: Regulatory and organizational complianceInternal audits and file reviewsQuality assurance and improvementPolicy and procedure managementRecordkeeping and document controlData tracking and reportingRisk managementConfidentiality and professional ethicsNonprofit and human-services operations Minimum Qualifications Currently pursuing an associate, bachelors, or masters degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, Human Services, Criminal Justice, Social Work, or a related field.Interest in compliance, quality assurance, risk management, or nonprofit operations.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to follow instructions and established procedures.Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally.Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.Must successfully complete all required background checks and pre-internship requirements. Preferred Qualifications Previous administrative, office, data-entry, or human-services experience.Experience reviewing documents for accuracy or completeness.Familiarity with spreadsheets, databases, policies, or recordkeeping systems.
