Senior Operational Technology (OT) Application Engineer

Senior Operational Technology (OT) Applications Engineer – Outage Management System (OMS) Application TRC Digital, a business unit within TRC, provides IT/OT expertise and solutions to best address client needs. The role focuses on the development and implementation of an Outage Management System (OMS) that spans the electric utility’s operational and information technology domains, improving the efficiency of the utility’s grid operations and supporting business functions. Responsibilities Lead small to medium projects as a senior resource, working closely with customers and vendors to deliver the project to completion and own the technical scope. Develop and execute system build plans, accounting for software architecture, information security, and hardware deployment. Contribute to overall project planning and upcoming sprints, ensuring all technical dependencies are covered. Work with customers to understand operational needs, provide system training, and configure solutions. Implement control systems at electric utilities, improving grid operation efficiency while ensuring contract requirements and specifications are met. Perform system and acceptance testing with end customers. Develop scripts and middleware solutions to integrate third‑party systems. Troubleshoot complex problems and collaborate with technical experts across domains. Travel to customer sites and work directly with customers to deliver, test, and integrate systems. Ensure delivered solution is compliant with contractual requirements and address gaps with scope change agreements. Qualifications Minimum of 5 to 7 years in a similar application engineering role, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with products from major SCADA/EMS/DMS providers (GE, OSI, ABB, AVEVA (Schneider), Siemens, etc.). Industry experience with SCADA, Advanced Distribution (ADMS), Outage (OMS), or Switch Order (SOM) Management Systems. Experience supporting critical operation or IT systems. Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new technologies. Technical understanding of networking and security, operating systems, virtual environments, and system integration. Strong systems background with ability to troubleshoot across complex systems. Understanding of big‑data technologies and relational databases. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent. Willingness to travel (approximately 25%). Compensation In accordance with local law, salary range: USD 98,009.60 – 175,000.00 per year. Compensation varies by experience, education, skill level, location, and other factors.
