Registered Nurse In Progressive Care Unit

Description: RTO (Requests for Time Off) after booking is not allowed. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could lead to cancellation of the contract. Minimum of 2 years of experience is required. Unit will accept first-time travelers. Local candidates are welcome. Skills required include IV start, vent management, telemetry, and CPAP/BiPAP. Preferred certifications include NIHSS. Target nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5, with a mixed acuity patient population. In exceptional situations, the unit may increase the ratio to 1:6. Self-scheduling is considered when unit needs are met. Unit orientation will be provided. Scrubs are not provided; applicants should wear white or navy blue scrubs. The patient population includes those with COPD, pneumonia, respiratory distress, COVID-19, and flu. The unit operates with a team-oriented approach. Staffing resources include an Admission/Discharge nurse and a Code Team. Nurses will be required to float to similar units as necessary. Weekend shifts will be required every other weekend. Candidates must pass EKG Testing prior to starting in this specialty. Charting will be done using an electronic system. The unit cares for patients on chronic vents, but no nurse will manage more than one vent patient at a time. The unit has a total of 48 beds. Patient care includes monitoring telemetry patients and managing complex cases. Nurses are expected to adhere to all policies regarding attendance and RTO.
