About This Job

Axos is seeking a strategic and highly organized Sr. Specialist, Corporate Communications, to help lead internal communications planning, governance, executive support, and enterprise channel management.

This role will ensure employees and team members receive timely, relevant, and coordinated communications about Axos’ business priorities, performance, culture, strategic initiatives, and organizational developments. The Sr. Specialist will own the internal communications operating rhythm across key channels, including the monthly colleague newsletter, Staffbase email, intranet, internal editorial planning, and communications governance.

The ideal candidate is a strong strategic thinker and program manager who can understand business priorities, identify communication needs, build effective communication plans, coordinate stakeholders, and manage execution from intake through measurement. This person should be comfortable using AI-enabled tools to support content development and productivity, while applying sound judgment, protecting confidential information, and ensuring all communications are accurate, appropriate, and aligned with Axos standards.

This is not primarily a copywriting role. It is a strategic communications role requiring strong judgment, organization, presentation skills, stakeholder management, and the ability to turn complex business priorities into clear communication strategies and execution plans.

Responsibilities:

Internal Communications Strategy

• Develop and manage internal communications strategies that support Axos’ business priorities, culture, values, and enterprise initiatives.
• Translate business objectives into communication plans that define the audience, objective, key message, channel, timing, stakeholder roles, approval process, and success measures.
• Maintain the enterprise internal communications calendar and identify opportunities to coordinate or sequence communications across business units.
• Advise stakeholders on communication needs, audience considerations, channel selection, timing, and employee impact.
• Identify gaps, duplication, and competing messages across internal communications channels.
• Help establish a consistent and scalable internal communications operating model.

Enterprise Channel Ownership

• Own the monthly colleague newsletter, including editorial planning, content intake, stakeholder coordination, production workflow, distribution, and performance reporting.
• Manage Staffbase email communications, including audience selection, dynamic distribution list updates, scheduling, testing, deployment, and reporting.
• Oversee the planning and organization of intranet content to ensure information is current, accessible, easy to navigate, and aligned with enterprise priorities.
• Develop channel guidelines and standards for internal email, newsletter, intranet, and other colleague communications.
• Maintain communication governance processes, including intake, prioritization, review, approval, publishing, and archival requirements.
• Recommend channel and process improvements based on performance data, employee feedback, and stakeholder needs.

Executive and Leadership Communications

• Support executive and leadership communications by developing communication strategies, presentation structures, briefing materials, talking points, FAQs, and message frameworks.
• Create and refine executive-ready PowerPoint presentations for leadership meetings, town halls, enterprise initiatives, and colleague communications.
• Coordinate executive communication reviews, approvals, timelines, and distribution.
• Help leaders communicate complex topics, including business performance, risk and compliance, mergers and acquisitions, strategic priorities, and organizational developments.
• Provide practical counsel on audience needs, communication sequencing, message clarity, and delivery.
• Support executive communications across internal audiences while ensuring alignment with approved Corporate Communications messaging.

Program and Project Management

• Lead internal communications workstreams for enterprise initiatives from planning through launch, sustainment, and measurement.
• Use Workfront to manage timelines, deliverables, dependencies, approvals, resources, and accountability.
• Build project plans, communication roadmaps, stakeholder maps, editorial calendars, and implementation schedules.
• Coordinate with Human Resources, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Marketing, Corporate Communications, and business unit leaders.
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining strong organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.
• Identify risks and dependencies early and escalate issues with clear recommendations.

AI-Enabled Communications Operations

• Use AI-enabled tools to support research, content structuring, message development, editing, summarization, presentation development, and workflow efficiency.
• Apply human judgment to review AI-assisted content for accuracy, tone, clarity, inclusivity, audience relevance, and business appropriateness.
• Follow Axos requirements related to confidentiality, data protection, approved tools, and the handling of sensitive business or employee information.
• Develop repeatable prompts, templates, workflows, and quality-control practices that improve communications efficiency without compromising accuracy or trust.
• Partner with subject-matter experts and Corporate Communications leadership when communications require additional editorial support.

Corporate Communications Support

• Support Corporate Communications initiatives, including press releases, company announcements, leadership materials, and other communications deliverables when needed.
• Help ensure internal audiences are prepared for or informed about external announcements and major company news.
• Coordinate internal communication timing with external communications plans.
• Exercise discretion when working with confidential, sensitive, or time-critical information.

Measurement and Optimization

• Define and track performance measures for internal communication channels and programs.
• Monitor metrics such as email open rates, click-through rates, newsletter engagement, intranet activity, content reach, participation, and employee feedback.
• Prepare regular performance updates and recommendations for Communications leadership and business stakeholders.
• Use data and insights to improve content planning, channel effectiveness, audience targeting, and communication timing.
• Help establish benchmarks for effective internal communications at Axos.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 6+ years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, public relations, employee engagement, marketing, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience developing and executing internal communications strategies or programs in a complex, cross-functional organization.
• Experience supporting executive or leadership communications.
• Strong strategic planning, program management, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience managing internal communication channels such as newsletters, Staffbase, intranet, email, or comparable platforms.
• Experience using Workfront or another project and workflow management platform.
• Experience creating executive-level PowerPoint presentations and communication materials.
• Comfort using AI-enabled tools to support communications planning, development, editing, research, and productivity.
• Strong verbal communication, presentation, and meeting facilitation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial services, banking, or another regulated industry.
• Experience communicating risk, compliance, business performance, mergers and acquisitions, or organizational change.
• Experience supporting press releases, media materials, or public relations initiatives.
• Experience developing communication governance frameworks, editorial standards, and channel strategies.
• Experience using communications analytics, employee feedback, or engagement data to improve programs.
• Experience building AI-assisted communication workflows, templates, or quality-control processes.
