Registered Nurse - Wound Care

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides specialized wound, ostomy, and continence care to patients, conducting comprehensive assessments and developing personalized care plans. Collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure optimal treatment and promotes patient education and self-care.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor patient response to wound, ostomy, and continence treatments, documenting findings accurately.
• Develop, revise, and evaluate standards of care related to wound management and assist in selecting appropriate supplies and equipment.
• Educate patients and families on wound prevention, care techniques, and management of ostomies and continence issues.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and make appropriate referrals.
• Participate in quality improvement activities, including incidence and prevalence studies, to enhance patient outcomes.
• Maintain patient data confidentiality and adhere to safety protocols to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.

Qualifications:

• Valid New York State RN license with verification from NYS Department of Education.
• Minimum of two years of Med/Surg nursing experience.
• Proven experience in wound and colostomy care, with relevant certifications preferred.
• Current BLS certification from AHA.
• Certification in wound, ostomy, and continence nursing (e.g., CWOCN, CWON, CWCN, CWS, WCC) highly desirable.
