Senior Director, Technical Program Management – AI/ML (Remote Eligible) We are seeking a senior leader to guide technical programs that deliver critical business outcomes and build high‑scale data products and platforms. About the Team As a Senior Director of Technical Program Management within Capital One’s Intelligent Foundations & Experiences team, you will help build the next‑generation Generative AI platform that serves as the backbone of the company’s AI initiatives. Your work will empower our credit‑card, retail banking, and auto‑finance businesses to deliver reliable, real‑time, delightful experiences to customers. Responsibilities Lead end‑to‑end AI/ML program planning, execution, and delivery across multiple business units. Define and drive the technical vision for Generative AI tools and platforms, ensuring alignment with strategy and business objectives. Identify, analyze, and mitigate technical risks throughout the lifecycle of complex programs. Serve as a senior technology advocate in discussions with executive leadership, providing insights and recommendations. Build and mentor a world‑class team of technical program managers to advance the TPM discipline within the organization. Simplify complex technical concepts and facilitate well‑educated decisions across product, engineering, design, and data‑science stakeholders. Champion execution, follow‑through, accountability, and measurable results across cross‑functional teams. Demonstrate high emotional intelligence, collaborative leadership, and deep empathy for partners and teams. Qualifications Basic Qualifications At least 9 years of experience in technical program management. Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field. Preferred Qualifications 9+ years of experience designing and building data‑intensive solutions with distributed computing. 5+ years of experience building distributed systems and highly available services in a cloud environment (preferably AWS). 5+ years of experience building high‑scale, low‑latency data platforms. 5+ years of experience in Agile delivery and program leadership across large, complex initiatives. Experience delivering programs in highly regulated environments. Advanced education (B.S. or higher) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related area. AI/ML industry impact demonstrated through conference presentations, papers, blog posts, open‑source contributions, or patents. Compensation & Benefits Salary for this role ranges from $245,100 to $279,800 annually (Remote) and up to $335,700 in San Francisco, CA. Compensation also includes performance‑based incentive opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package covering health, financial, and wellness programs.
