Building Inspector I/II

Overview The City of Napa is currently seeking a Building Inspector I/II to perform technical building inspections. The role involves inspecting commercial, residential, and industrial projects to ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and ordinances. Building Inspectors work closely with developers, architects, and contractors to maintain code requirements and resolve compliance issues. Responsibilities & Competencies Building Inspection Technical Knowledge and Skill – Knowledge of principles and practices of building inspection and staying current with code developments. Managing Relationships – Meeting individuals’ needs, building trust, encouraging two‑way communication, and strengthening relationships. Licenses & Certificates Building Inspector I – Possession of an International Code Council (ICC) Building Inspection Certificate within one year of hire. Possession of ICC Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Combination, Plans Examiner, or CASp Certifications desirable. Building Inspector II – Possession of an ICC Combination Building Inspection Certificate. A CASp Certification is desirable. Both classifications must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License throughout employment. Benefits Vacation Leave – Up to 104 hours annually.
