Purchasing Specialist

A nonprofit services organization is seeking a Purchasing Specialist in New York City. This hybrid role supports purchasing operations by processing requisitions, coordinating documentation, and ensuring purchase orders are completed accurately and efficiently.

• Shift: Day shift
• Schedule: Monday to Friday
• Hours: 9am to 5pm
• Setting: Hybrid (Tuesday to Thursday onsite)

• Process purchase requisitions and convert approved requisitions into purchase orders
• Review requisition details for accuracy, including account coding, vendor information, attachments, and approvals
• Check scanned documentation from sites and programs for proper coding, quantities, unit amounts, and required quotes
• Release purchase orders to vendors and follow up on missing or incomplete paperwork
• Support related purchasing and administrative tracking, including receiving transactions and vendor documentation routed to Accounts Payable

• 1+ year of relevant work experience
• High School Diploma / GED
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications
• Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to manage transactional work with accuracy and follow-through
• Willingness to learn new systems and processes

• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree
• Experience in processing purchase requisitions or purchase orders
• Familiarity with the Lawson accounting system
• Prior coordination experience in a purchasing or administrative support environment
