Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room (ER) provides skilled nursing care during night shifts, ensuring high-quality patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning in a fast-paced critical care environment. This role requires strong collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and effective communication with patients and providers. The position guarantees 36 hours per week over three 12-hour night shifts and demands an active California RN license along with current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to patients in the Emergency Room setting.
• Perform patient assessments, administer medications, and develop treatment plans.
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations and provide critical care support.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
• Participate in charge nurse duties during assigned shifts, including coordination of unit activities.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of California.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in emergency or critical care settings.
• Proof of negative tuberculosis (TB) screen within 12 months prior to contract start date.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in an Emergency Room or critical care environment.
• Charge nurse experience or leadership capabilities.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.

Special Considerations:

• Work includes three 12-hour night shifts weekly from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
• Charge nurse differential applies during charge shifts.
• Must comply with hospital infection control and safety standards.
• Housing options available within a 30-mile radius of Arcata, CA.

Scheduling:

• Three 12-hour night shifts per week, totaling 36 hours guaranteed.
• Shift times are from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
• Shift assignments and scheduling coordinated to ensure coverage and continuity of care.
