Sr. Backend Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and engineers to deliver significant business impact.
• Set technical direction for critical technical areas so the product and infrastructure can scale.
• Design, develop, and own new product functionality and infrastructure using modern frameworks and tooling.
• Collaborate with engineers to improve security and trust outcomes for Vanta customers.
• Contribute to Vanta’s engineering culture as the company grows.
• Support the Integrations Platform mission by developing shared primitives for authentication, lifecycle, observability, and publishing.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of industry experience with backend development.
• Experience designing, building, and scaling backend systems, APIs, and platform primitives.
• Experience serving in technical leadership roles for teams or complex projects.
• Previous startup experience or experience in an environment with a bias for action.
• Previous experience working on greenfield projects.
• Interest in learning about security or prior experience in the security space.
• Curiosity and sound judgment in using AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact.
