Job Overview  

Coupang relies on technology to provide on-time, fast delivery of products to customers every day. Fulfillment Technology focuses on managing highly scalable systems for Coupang that includes Inventory and Warehouse Management systems . Building highly available and scalable systems to handle billions of order & delivery transactions and support Coupang’s rapidly growing Product Commerce business is a complex architectural challenge. We are responsible for delivering products to millions of online shopping customers by improving order reconciliation with technology. To deliver on this challenge, we are looking for an experienced and passionate engineer who can design and build large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed services.  

Key Responsibilities  

• Demonstrate excellence resulting in scalable systems and services with the highest quality architecture and design.  


• Responsible for designing, building, deploying and maintaining the core Workflow Platform Infrastructure. (e.g., Workflow Platforms - Temporal, Netflix Conductor etc.) 


• Responsible for benchmarking the Platform, collecting metrics & publishing results.  


• Responsible for measuring & ensuring reliability and uptime of the Platform with 99.995% guarantees.  


• Responsible for capacity estimation & provisioning of cluster for different customer workloads.  


• Responsible for production incident Monitoring & Alerting for the Platform.  


• Detail oriented and hands on engineer who can analyze OSS Platform components and code.  


• Dive deep into critical system issues, proactively addressing similar root causes, and raise the bar on Operational Excellence.  


• Exposure to one of the SQL or NoSQL database systems. (Cassandra, MySQL etc.) 


• Collaborate with other teams to make the platform open and extensible to unlock innumerable opportunities for innovations.  

Qualifications  

• 10+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams in a fast-moving environment.  


• 10+ years of experience in developing and operating backend services and web applications.  


• Experience building complex, high-performance, and highly available distributed software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.  


• Strong familiarity developing with Java and Spring Framework as well as experience in an AWS environment.  


• Extensive experience in managing mission critical services with high throughput and low latency.  

Preferred Qualifications  

• Solid engineering skills as a lead engineer to coach and lead high performing software engineers and keep them motivated.  


• Excellent communication skills to shepherd communication with end users, technical & business teams to collect requirements, describe product features, and develop technical designs to achieve business goals.  


• Knowledge of Agile software engineering practices & patterns for the full software development lifecycle including coding standards, code reviews, build processes, testing, and live site operations.  


• Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional, highly collaborative environment.  

Minimum Qualifications:  

• Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of total experience   


• Ability to solve problems through creative thinking and partnerships with other teams   


• Ability to  attain challenging targets through goal-setting and personal drive    

Pay & Benefits  

Our compensation reflects the cost of living across several US geographic markets. At Coupang, your base pay is one part of your total compensation.

The base pay for this position ranges from $174,000/year to $299,000/year. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A nnual bonus is 0-20% of the base salary.
