Job Title: Assembler Job Description

Join our team for a dynamic short-term project with the potential for extension, where you will play a crucial role in maintaining the start-of-the-year production. As an assembler, you will be responsible for the proper, productive, and safe fitting and joining of various skylight, smoke vent, and other components using selected fabricating processes and procedures. This position offers a day shift from 5am to 1:30pm, with the possibility of overtime.

Responsibilities

• Safely and securely move required materials in and out of the welding area, using a forklift if certified, or a pallet jack.
• Layout, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to tacking and welding using prescribed fixtures, clamps, and measuring tools.
• Operate manual aluminum and steel wire-feed welding equipment to properly join metal components within defined parameters.
• Examine work pieces for defects using visual inspection and measuring tools to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Monitor the welding process to avoid overheating of parts, warpage, distortion, or 'burning through' the materials.
• Detect faulty welding machine operation or defective materials and notify supervisors.
• Stack and secure finished parts on pallets prior to transferring to the assembly department.
• Ensure all counts of finished products are correct and marked with the order number or other identifying marks.
• Maintain a clean and hazard-free work area.

Essential Skills

• Experience in MIG welding, blueprint reading, and fabrication.
• Knowledge and experience in safety requirements for operating and maintaining wire-feed equipment and material handling.
• Proficiency in assigned welding techniques and use of finish grinding tools.
• Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings accurately.
• Working knowledge of fixturing, clamping, and weld set-up parameters such as volts, amps, and wire speed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Basic fabricating aptitude with a 2-year technical school degree or 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of wire and filler materials for aluminum and galvanized steel.
• Ability to use and understand basic measuring instruments.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
