MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (FULL TIME)

Position : Maintenance Technician - TAMU Galveston Location : TAMU Galveston - 1001 Texas Clipper Road, Galveston, TX 77554 (openings at other locations within school district available) Schedule : Full time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (flexible scheduling available). Pay Range : $15.00 to $18.00 per hour Sign-On Bonus : $250 after 90 days; $750 after 1 year. Perks : comprehensive benefits package, training opportunities, same day pay. Job Summary Performs a variety of skilled maintenance duties related to facility engineering and maintenance functions, while providing field leadership, ensuring quality assurance, supporting training efforts, and managing escalations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist in decisions on normal and complex repairs; report major problems to maintenance supervisor and foreman. Construct, finish, install, maintain, and repair electrical and mechanical systems and related facilities using power and hand tools. Clean, lubricate, service, repair, or diagnose HVAC, electrical and mechanical building systems, sterilizers, sprinkler and standpipe systems, transport systems, electronic signaling, fire alarm systems, and specialty equipment. Supervise and lead a group of workers on a project. Read, comprehend, and transmit complicated detailed instructions verbally and in writing. Teach advanced maintenance skills to other department members. Review work of outside vendors and licensed maintenance workers; make punch lists. Report on and repair discrepancies as assigned. Analyze and correct complex building system problems, alone or as a team. Maintain logs, perform rounds, complete work orders, tests, and inspections. Recommend modifications or improvements for preventive maintenance systems. Serve as a member of the facility emergency response team. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Four years of skilled trade school or maintenance vocational schooling. Five years experience as a maintenance technician in an institutional setting. Two years experience as a licensed Journeyman in the specialized trade. Master license in one trade or two of the following: Journeyman Electrical License, Registered ACR Technician with EPA certification in Refrigerant, or Journeyman Plumber License. Valid driver’s license.
